St. Cloud, Minn.  – The St. Cloud State volleyball team will host a non-conference match against Bemidji State at Sauk Centre High School on Oct. 4 starting at 7 p.m., the program announced this afternoon.
"We took a page out of our wrestling program and Steve Costanzo's book and thought this would be a great opportunity to increase our exposure and team up with a local high school that has had quite a bit of success in the past," second-year volleyball head coach Chad Braegelmann explained. "It will also be fun to get senior Macy Waller back in her old gym and see the support the community has for the game of volleyball too."
The match is scheduled to start after the Sauk Centre H.S. – Melrose H.S. varsity contest that begins at 5 p.m. One ticket will allow all attendees the chance to see both Sauk Centre and St. Cloud State.
"This is a great opportunity for Sauk Centre's volleyball fans and current high school players to be exposed to the next level of play," head Sauk Centre volleyball coach Jim Klaphake stated. "It is a bonus to be able to watch Macy, one of the best Streeter athletes, play one more time in our gym."
"Being able to bring back Macy back to the gym she starred in for years is tremendous," said current Sauk Centre athletic director and former high school basketball coach Scott Bergman. "She meant so much to our athletic program and it is going to fun to see the fans of Sauke Centre welcome her back home. Our volleyball program at Sauk Centre has been strong for years so to find a way to keep raising the bar is great. For our fans to see what the "next level" looks like will also be beneficial. Macy was a three-sport athlete (volleyball, basketball and track) here and I had the privilege of coaching her in basketball. She combined athleticism, work ethic, god-given talented and leadership like few others have. Weller comes from a tremendous family and I'm thrilled that she gets to play one more time in the Sauk Centre Mainstreeter gym!"Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
