Huskies Show Well at Caty's Run on Oct. 6

The St. Cloud State men's and women's cross country team turned in some top performances on Oct. 6 at the Caty's Run races in Mankato, Minn.
No team scores were tallied at this meet, but the Huskies saw several of their athletes place among the top 10 finishers on the day.
In the 6K men's race, Gemechu Bekelcho placed third overall at 19:14, while teammate Mahdi Koliso was sixth at 19:20. Jared Hicks also added a top 10 place with a ninth place time of 19:41.
Paul Greenwood finished at 20:55 in the race, while SCSU's other runners at the race included Casey Mueller (21:28) and Paul Maile at 29:31.
On the women's side, SCSU's Kassie Vaness was the top collegiate runner (2nd overall) with a time of 14:45 on the 4K trail. Nichelle Rubash placed sixth in the race at 15:18. SCSU;s other runners at the race included Jenny Metzler (15:51), Lauren Johnson (16:08), Lindsey Strassen (16:12) and Emily Helwig (16:55).
The Huskies will run at the Carleton College Triangle meet on Oct. 8 and then compete at the upcoming NSIC championships on Oct. 20 in Minneapolis.
"Great effort by both teams today," SCSU coach Eric Hanenberger said. "Kassie's (Vaness) effort was inspirational and was easily the top collegiate finisher. This meet helped prep the kids for conference in two weeks."
