#9 Ohio State Takes Down Huskies, 3-1

Columbus, Ohio – St. Cloud State women's hockey team fell to #9 Ohio State 3-1 Saturday in their final regular season WCHA match-up against the Buckeyes.
With the same lines as Friday's game the Huskies came out aggressive putting up a 1-0 lead just 54 seconds into the first period at the OSU Ice Rink. It was sophomore Abby Ness scoring her fourth goal of the season with an assist from Julia Gilbert and Skye Kelly.
The Buckeyes were able to tie the game up 1-1 at the 5:04 mark of the first period with a goal by Ally Tarr. OSU outshot the Huskies 17-to-8 in the first period.
OSU took a 2-1 lead at the 8:01 mark with Tarr sneaking her second goal of the game past SCSU's goalie Julie Friend.
Shots on goal in the second period were even with seven shots each.
With the Huskies outshooting the Buckeyes in the third period by a margin of 10-to-4, they were unable to get one into the net past the OSU goalie. Scoring came late at the 16:32 mark of the third period as Ohio State extended their lead with a power-play goal by Taylor Kuehl to make it a 3-1 game.
Julie Friend was in the net again for the Huskies recording some big saves and posting a total 25, while OSU's goalie Chelsea Knapp totaled 24 saves for the win. Friend moves her record to 4-8-2 on the season.
St. Cloud State (8-16-2, 4-15-1 WCHA) will return to action Jan. 25-26 as they welcome the University of North Dakota to the National Hockey & Event Center. Game times are slated for 7:07 p.m. and 2:07 p.m. respectively.
