Huskies Fall to #10 North Dakota, 6-2

St. Cloud, Minn. – The St. Cloud State University women's hockey team was back in the comforts of the National Hockey & Event Center as they played host Friday to the #10 University of North Dakota.
With the all-time series record all tied up at 19-19-5 it was up for grabs. UND took the lead with a 6-2 win Friday.
North Dakota took an early 2-0 lead over the Huskies with a power-play goal to start their lead. But the Huskies were able to make it a 2-1 game as Kylie Lane fired one off into the net scoring her first goal of the season. Assists were charted to Amy Olson and Lisa Martinson on the goal.
UND was able to extend their lead to 3-1 with a goal at the 11:39 mark of the first period. North Dakota outshot SCSU in the first period by a margin of 16-to-11.
The Huskies came out fired up in the second period with a power-play goal just 42 seconds into the period. Freshman Skye Kelly fired the shot off scoring her first collegiate goal with assists from Haylea Schmid and Molli Mott.
North Dakota continued to extend their lead over the Huskies with Monique Lamoureux putting two goals by SCSU's Julie Friend to make it a 5-2 game in the second period.
Shots on goal were even in the second period with both teams posting 10 on goal.
In the third period it was Jocelyne Lamoureux scoring at the 3:32 mark to make it a 6-2 final. The Huskies outshot UND eight-to-six in the third period but could not get any past UND's Shelby Amsley-Benzie.
SCSU's Friend recorded 26 saves and moves her season record to 4-9-2.
St. Cloud State (8-17-2, 4-16-1 WCHA) and #10 North Dakota will be back in action Saturday for their final WCHA regular season match-up. The drop of the puck is set for 2:07 p.m.
