SCSU Women's Cross Country to Run at NCAA Regionals on Saturday

The St. Cloud State University women's cross country team will be headed to Sioux Falls, S.D. on Nov. 9 for the 2013 NCAA Division II Central Regional championships. Â
The meet will take place at the Yankton Trails Park in Sioux Falls, S.D. and the course is a 6K layout that features two loops and a finish loop. Â This is the same location where the 2013 NSIC championships were held on Oct. 26. Â As a team, the Huskies finished in a tie for ninth place at the NSIC championships in 2013.
The race is scheduled to start at 10:30 a.m. (Central Time). Â Complete results and live scoring will be available at the website listed below:

SCSU senior Kassie Vaness has consistently ranked among the top placers in every race she has competed in during the 2013 season. Â At the recent NSIC championships, Vaness earned her second consecutive All-NSIC award by placing 15th in the field of 124 runners. Â Her time at the NSIC race was an impressive 22:07.20.
Another name to watch among the race leaders is SCSU freshman Samantha Sunstrom from nearby Sauk Rapids-Rice High School. Â Sunstrom also earned All-NSIC honors in 2013 with a 17th place finish in the conference championships at 22:16.42.
Sophomore Jenny Metzler posted a time of 23:53.45 at the NSIC race, while teammates Jessie Hubley, Lauren Johnson, Kylie Baas, Lindsey Stassen, Rachel Sakry and Tristan Sproul have added depth to the SCSU roster this fall for Coach Eric Hanenberger.
Host Augustana is the defending regional champion from 2012, and Minnesota Duluth claimed first place at the recent 2013 NSIC championships. Â The 2013 NCAA Division II Central Region championships will serve as a qualifier for the upcoming 2013 NCAA Division II men's championshps, which will be held on Nov. 23 at the Plants Ferry Athletic Complex in Spokane, Wash.
