Women's Basketball Drops to Sharp Shooting Sioux Falls, 79-92

St. Cloud, Minn. -- The St. Cloud State University women's basketball team took on the University of Sioux Falls in a 4 p.m. Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) contest on Saturday evening. The Huskies, coming off a thrilling three-point victory over Southwest Minnesota State couldn't seem to stop the offensive force put on by Sioux Falls. St. Cloud State fell to the Cougars 79-92 in tonight's conference action.

St. Cloud State drops to 9-5 overall and 5-5 in the NSIC. Tonight's loss snapped the Huskies seven-game winning streak at Halenbeck Hall. The University of Sioux Falls improves to 7-7 overall and 3-7 in conference action.
The Huskies trailed 30-40 at the half after the Cougars shot 51% in the first twenty minutes and knocked down eight of 15 shots from beyond the arc (53%). The Cougars failed to slow down in the second half as they hit seven of 14 three-point attempts. Sioux Falls shot 51% from the field compared to St. Cloud State's 38% in final statistics.
Jessica Benson (Grand Meadow) led all players for St. Cloud State as she finished with 25 points and 12 rebounds. Tonight marked Benson's ninth double-double of the season.
Sam Price (Eau Claire, Wis.) finished with 24 points, draining five shots from beyond the arc. Price dished out four assists and grabbed four steals.
Rachael Moen (Savage) was the third and final Husky to score in double-figures. Moen finished with 13 points on eight of eight shooting from behind the line. She tallied four assists and four steals.
Five players from Sioux Falls scored in double-figures in tonight's match-up led by Laura Johnson who went six of 12 from the field to finish with 20 points.
The Cougars outrebounded St. Cloud State, 38-32.
The Huskies will return to action on Jan. 17 and 18 as they travel to take on the University of Mary and Minot State. The Marauders of U-Mary sit at 7-6 overall and 5-5 in the NSIC after sweeping Upper Iowa and Winona State this weekend. The Huskies defeated U-Mary on their home court 100-80 on Dec. 14.
Minot State holds an 11-3 overall record and a 7-3 mark in the NSIC. The Huskies defeated Minot State 92-85 on Dec. 13.
