Women's basketball falls at MSU Moorhead, 74-62

Moorhead, Minn. – Minnesota State University Moorhead avenged an earlier loss to the St. Cloud State Huskies with a 74-62 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) North Division women's basketball win Friday night.
St. Cloud State is 13-8 overall and 9-8 in the NSIC. The Huskies will play at Northern State Saturday evening in Aberdeen, S.D. MSU Moorhead moved to 13-8 overall and 9-8 in league play. The Huskies and Dragons are tied for third place in the NSIC North.
St. Cloud State senior guard Sam Price (Eau Claire, Wis.) led all players with 20 points. She scored 15 second half points and her back to back three's drew the Huskies to within three points of the Dragons, 41-38 with less than 15 minutes remaining in the game.
Senior forward Jessica Benson (Grand Meadow) also scored in double figures as she tallied 13 points and nine rebounds.
The Huskies shot 32.8 percent from the field and made 12 of 13 free throws. St. Cloud State scored 25 points off turnovers and 17 second chance points.
MSU Moorhead was led by Morgan Zabel. Zabel led the Dragons with 17 points and eight rebounds. Teammate Megan Strese posted a double double with a 14 point, 11 rebound performance.
The Dragons shot 50 percent from the field and 46.2 percent from three-point range. The Dragons made 24 of 26 free throw attempts and out-rebounded the Huskies 39-28.
On Jan. 25th the Huskies defeated the Dragons, 93-72 in St. Cloud.
