St. Cloud State University junior Marcello Locatelli (Londrina, Brazil) ended his 2015 season with the Huskies as the 32nd ranked singles player in the nation at the NCAA Division II level by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Â Locatelli and doubles partner senior Joao Poli (Londrina, Brazil) were also ranked 13th in the nation at the Division II level by the ITA in doubles play this spring. Â Joao PoliAs a team, the Huskies (13-6 overall) were ranked 50th in the nation among all NCAA Division II programs in the final poll released by the ITA on May 27. Â In the Central Region poll, SCSU was ranked seventh by the ITA. Â Locatelli was ranked first in singles play in the final ITA Central Region poll for 2015, while the duo of Locatelli and Poli were ranked number one in doubles play in the ITA Central Region poll.
A transfer student from Stony Brook, Locatelli posted a 17-1 record at number one singles in 2015. Â His only loss during the season was to an opponent from NCAA Division I rival Bucknell on the team's annual spring trip to Orlando, Fla. Â In doubles play, Locatelli and Poli were 15-1 at number one doubles for the Huskies. Â The pair's only loss was to DI rival Bucknell this spring.
