St. Cloud State men's tennis wraps up regular season with 7-2 victory at SJU

The St. Cloud State University men's tennis completed its 2016 regular season schedule on Thursday, April 14 with a 7-2 victory at St. John's University in Collegeville, Minn.
The victory moved the Huskies' overall season record to 12-6 in 2016. SCSU lost matches at first and second doubles but the Huskies rallied with wins at third doubles and all six singles position in tough windy conditions in this match that was played outdoors. SJU moves to 8-6 on the season with the loss.
"The guys played a great match under tough conditions. We fell behind early but managed to make a strong comeback to get the win," said SCSU head coach Jerry Anderson.
At third doubles, Jacob Cersosimo and Nathanial Cherry gained an 8-3 victory over Ryan Meger and Jonah Punnoose.
In singles play, the Huskies rolled with six consecutive wins. At first singles Marcello Locatelli won 6-3, 6-4 and teammate Odyr Cruz added a 7-6 (7-4), 6-7 (2-7), 10-8 win over Tim Larson of SJU. Joao Souto gained a 6-2, 6-1 win at third singles, while Lucas Norbiato won 6-4, 6-4 at fourth doubles. Cherry also won 7-5, 7-5 at fifth singles and Cersosimo completed the victory march with a 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 win at sixth singles.
