St. Cloud State wrestling takes second at 2016 NWCA DII National Duals

The #2 ranked St. Cloud State University wrestling team (5-1, 0-0 NSIC) finished as the runner-up at the 2016 NWCA Division II National Duals on Saturday, Jan. 9. Â The Huskies lost a close 21-15 decision against Notre Dame (Ohio) in the championship dual match, which was held in Fort Wayne, Ind.
In the title bout, Tim Prescott lost a close 6-5 decision to ND's Jacob Goodwin at 125-pounds. Â The score was then evened at 133-pounds as Jarred Oftedahl continue his strong season with a 5-1 victory over ND's #5 David Bravery.
ND regained the lead at 141-pounds with a victory by Cobey Fehr against SCSU's Matt Nelson (fall at 3:57). Â Jay Hildreth helped SCSU get back into the flow with a 12-8 decision at 149-pounds against ND's Issac Dulgarian. Â Notre Dame bounced back at 157-pounds with a win by #1 Jonatan Rivera over SCSU's Larry Bomstad (11-5 decision).
At 165-pounds, #1 Clint Poster suffered his first loss of the season with a 6-4 OT loss to ND's Juwan Edmond. Â The Huskies' Clayton Jennissen helped SCSU get back on the winning track with a 4-3 victory over Roberto Rivera at 174 while #1 Joey Davis gained an 8-3 win over SCSU's Uthman Rabiu at 184-pounds.
In the bout at 197-pounds, #4 Garrett Lineberger posted an 8-2 victory over SCSU's V.J. Giulio. Â The meet was completed with a forfeit win for the Huskies' #1 Austin Goergen at 285-pounds.
SCSU will return to action on Jan. 16 with a trip to the Ranger Duals tournament in Kenosha, Wisc.
