Volleyball’s Clara Krenz Named NSIC Defensive Player of the Week

Burnsville, Minn. – St. Cloud State's Clara Krenz has been named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday afternoon, Sept. 25.
Krenz led the NSIC in both digs (70) and digs per set (7.00) last week. She also picked up three service aces and nine assists on the week. She played a crucial part in St. Cloud State's three-set sweep of No. 18 Wayne State.
Krenz began the week with 22 digs against No. 6 UMD. She totaled 31 digs in the four sets against No. 12 Augustana. She completed her week with 17 digs in the three sets against No. 18 Wayne State.
She enters the week as the NSIC's leader in both total digs (292) and digs per set (5.96). Krenz is also among the top 20 nationally in digs per set (16th) and total digs (17th). She is also seventh in the NSIC and 17th nationally in service aces (18).
The SCSU volleyball program has a stiff test later this week against No. 1 Southwest Minnesota State on Friday, Sept. 29, at 6 p.m. in Marshall, Minn. The program continues the weekend road trip and takes on Sioux Falls on Saturday, Sept. 30, at 2 p.m.
Located in Central Minnesota along the oak-crowned west bank of the Mississippi River in the city of St. Cloud, Minn., St. Cloud State University sponsors 19 varsity intercollegiate athletic programs. The Huskies compete at the NCAA Division I level in men's hockey (National Collegiate Hockey Conference) and women's hockey (Western Collegiate Hockey Association), while its NCAA Division II programs hold membership in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and the University's nordic ski team competes in the Central Collegiate Ski Association.
