The St. Cloud State University soccer team (12-4-3, 10-3-2 NSIC) punched its ticket to the semfinal round of the 2019 NSIC tournament with a 1-0 victory at Bemidji State University (12-6-1) on Wednesday, Nov. 13 in Bemidji, Minn.
In a classic defensive battle between these two NSIC rivals, SCSU earned the decisive point with a goal by freshman Jenna Dominguez at 48:41 with assists from Claire Shea and Emma Van Donselaar. This was Dominquez fifth goal of the season and 15th point of 2019. Shea added to her team leading point totals with her fifth assist of the year and her 19th point, while Van Donselaar now has two assists for SCSU in 2019.
SCSU and BSU both posted 11 shots in the contest with seven shots by the Huskies being on net. In the nets, SCSU's Zoe Welsh had four saves and gained the victory and Emma Riedl had six saves for BSU. Dominguez also led the Huskies with four shots in the game.

The win was Welsh's 12th of the season and she now ranks second in the team record for most goalie wins in a season. She also earned her fifth consecutive shutout and her ninth shutout of the 2019 campaign. She is now tied with Kenzie Hanzlik for most shutouts in a season at nine apiece. Welsh has not allowed a goal in her last 450:00 minutes of play, which dates back to SCSU's 2-1 loss at SMSU on Oct. 27.
Of note, SCSU only needs to win one more game to tie the team record for most victories in a season that set with 13 wins in 1995.
The Huskies will now advance to play Concordia-St. Paul at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15 in St. Paul, Minn. In the other NSIC semifinal match on Nov. 15, Minnesota State and Augustana will play at 11:00 a.m. The two winners will then advance to play in the NSIC title game on Sunday, Nov. 17 in St. Paul. This marks the third time that SCSU has advanced to the semifinals of the NSIC tournament.
