AVCA poll
LEXINGTON, KY. – The St. Cloud State University volleyball is no stranger to the national rankings at this point in the 2019 season. The Huskies have been a steady mainstay in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division II Top-25 poll since the third week of the season.
Â
On Monday, St. Cloud State moved into a spot they've only been once this season: the top-10. Thanks to two more wins in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) play, the Huskies cracked the top-10 for the second time this season, moving in to the #8 spot in the AVCA top-25 with 757 total votes.
Â
The #8 ranking ties the highest for St. Cloud State this season, as the team earned the same ranking back on October 14. It also marks the highest the Huskies have been ranked since 1996, when they were ranked #3 in the nation.
Â
St. Cloud State is one of eight NSIC teams ranked in the top-25 and one of four in the top-10 alone. In fact, of the top-10 teams in the nation, eight of them hail from the Central Region, including the Huskies, Minnesota-Duluth, Concordia-St. Paul and Northern State. The team will return to action on Tuesday when it hosts the University of Minnesota-Crookston at 6 p.m. in Halenbeck Hall.
