ST. CLOUD, MINN. – No one in central Minnesota may be hotter than the St. Cloud State University volleyball team. The Huskies are 10-0 to start the season, their best start since the 1985 season, and opened their Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) schedule with two wins over Winona State and Upper Iowa last weekend. Key to St. Cloud State's success was none other than sophomore outside hitter Linsey Rachel (Maple Lake, Minn. / Maple Lake), who was named the NSIC's Offensive Player of the Week for the second time in her career.

Rachel was nothing short of outstanding for the Huskies over the weekend, as her offensive play led the team to two wins over (RV) Winona State and #25 Upper Iowa. In both wins, the opponents had no answer for Rachel's offensive firepower, as she racked up a conference leading 49 kills in nine sets and averaged an impressive 5.44 kills/set against two ranked opponents. In the win over Winona State, Rachel recorded a then career-high 23 kills with just five errors for a career-high hitting percentage of .400. She added 14 digs, one block assists and one ace in the victory, tallying her seventh double-double of the season.

Rachel's best performance came on Saturday afternoon, as she was the team's top offensive weapon against Upper Iowa. After recorded a career-high in kills the night before, the sophomore broke her own mark, recording 26 in the five set thriller. Rachel additionally added 20 digs, one assist, an ace and a block in the victory, and clinched the Huskies victory with the match-winning kill.

This is the second time Rachel has been named the NSIC Offensive Player of the Week, as she earned the honor as a freshman in 2018. The sophomore, along with her teammates, will return to action this weekend, as they hit the road to face Minnesota State and #6 Concordia-St. Paul in conference play. Â
