Huskies record top-15 finish at Griak

FALCON HEIGHTS, MINN. – The St. Cloud State University track and field team put together another strong performance, this time at one of the top races in the Midwest region. On Saturday, the Huskies competed at the Roy Griak Invite, hosted by the University of Minnesota. As it has all season, the team recorded yet another strong finish, as St. Cloud State finished in 15th place with 489 points as a team.
The Huskies saw two familiar faces finish in the top-50 in one of the most competitive races of the season, as senior Chrissy Lofgren (Stewartville, Minn. / Stewartville) and first year Cheresa Bouley (Zimmerman, Minn. / Zimmerman) were the top finishers Saturday afternoon. Lofgren was the top finisher for the team, as she came in 23rd place with a time of 23:21.6. Bouley also put together a strong performance in Falcon Heights, as she came in 50th with a time of 23:56.6.
Autum Shurbert-Hetzel (Plover, Wis. / Stevens Point Area) was the third and final runner for St. Cloud State to finish in the top-100 at Griak. The senior's time of 24:42.7 was fast enough to finish in 92nd place.
First year Kassye Todd (Elmwood, Wis. / Elmwood-Plum City) and junior Jamie Herridge (Medota, Minn. / Little Falls) rounded out the top-5 for the Huskies, as theyboth finished in the top-100. Todd finished in 26:10.1 (155) while Herridge finished in 26:31.1 despite losing a shoe in the early stages of the race.
Isabella Kraft (Bismarck, N.D. / Bismarck) and Annika Juenemann (Eyota, Minn. / Dover-Eyota) ran for St. Cloud State Saturday morning. Kraft finished in the top-200 with a time of 26:51.8 while Juenemanm finished in 27:14.7.
After combining the scores of the top-5 runners, the Huskies finished in 15th as a team with 490 total team points. In terms of conference standings, St. Cloud State finished in seventh place amongst teams from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC).
The Huskies will enjoy a week off before returning on October 11, as they host the Waxlax Invitational at 5 p.m. in Sauk Rapids, Minnesota.
