Cross country cards third place finish at Oz Memorial

MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. – The St. Cloud State University cross country team could not have asked for a better start to the 2019 season. The Huskies earned their first top-3 finish of the season in their first race of the season, as they finished in third place at the Oz Memorial, hosted by the University of Minnesota, with 71 total points.
St. Cloud State had two individuals finish in the top-20 in senior Chrissy Lofgren (Stewartville, Minn. / Stewartville) and first year Cheresa Bouley (Zimmerman, Minn. / Zimmerman). Lofgren kicked off her fourth and final season with the Huskies with a 16th place finish at the Oz Memorial Invitational, finishing the course in a time of 24:02.0. Right on her heals was the first year Bouley, who recorded a 17th place finish in her collegiate cross country debut with a time of 24:05.9.
Jamie Herridge (Medota, Minn. / Little Falls) and Autum Shurbert Hetzel (Stevens Point, Wis. / Stevens Point Area) were the third and fourth finishers for St. Cloud State Friday afternoon, as they carded top-40 finishes with times of 26:32.1 and 26:37.0 respectively. First year Kassye Todd (Elmwood, Wis. / Elmwood-Plum City) was the fifth Husky to cross the finish line, opening her career with a time of 27:21.1.
Isabella Kraft (Bismarck, N.D. / Bismarck) was the final runner on the course for St. Cloud State, finishing the race with a time of 27:46.5.
After combing the scores of the top-5 finishers, the Huskies finished in third place as a team with 71 total points. St. Cloud State will compete at the St. Olaf Invitational on at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 21.
