12 Huskies earn titles at North Country Open

Collegeville, Minn. – 12 Huskies took home titles as No. 2 St. Cloud State Wrestling returned to the mat at the North Country Open hosted by St. John's on Sunday. SCSU led all teams in points, winning percentage (minimum two wrestlers) and tech falls. The Huskies competed with opponents from all levels of collegiate wrestling: DI programs No. 13 Iowa State, RV North Dakota State and RV South Dakota State; fellow DII's No. 10 Augustana, No. 21 Northern State and Minnesota State-Moorhead; DIII schools St. John's, No. 4 Augsburg, No. 10 UW-Oshkosh, No. 19 UW-Eau Claire and Concordia-Moorhead; NAIA foe Dakota Wesleyan along with NJCAA programs No. 26 Minnesota West, Ridgewater and Itasca.
SPOTLIGHT PERFORMANCES
• No. 1 Joseph Bianchini dominated the Gold 141 division on his way to a title, pinning Cade Willis (Augsburg), Ryan Watts (NDSU) and Cade Lundeen (Concordia-Moorhead) before earning a 10-4 decision over No. 2 Sam Stuhl (Augsburg) in the Finals.
• No. 2 Kameron Teacher enjoyed a steller showing in the Gold HWT division, beating Juan Mora Jr. (NDSU) 7-0, earning a 5-4 decision over No. 7 Tyler Kim (Augsburg) then pinning Dominik Vacura (NDSU) in the Finals.
• Anthony Herrera won all three matches on his way to a Gold 157 title, defeating Michael Weber (NDSU) 4-2 in SV1, No. 2 Colby Njos 2-1 and Jimmy Pierandozzi 4-3.
• Nicholas Novak had a dynamic showing in the Gold 149 division, going 4-0 on his way to a title with two tech falls and a major decision. Novak tech'd Noah Leffelman (MSUM) 16-1 and Tanner Kroells (Augsburg) 18-0, beat Hunter Burnett (Augustana) 6-1 then majored Gabriel Schumm (NDSU) 11-3 in the Finals.
• No. 2 Noah Ryan defeated Spencer Mooberry (NDSU) 3-1 and Zach Peterson (Augustana) 3-2 on his way to a Gold 197 division title.
• Nolan Throne went 4-0 in the Silver 149 division with a pin and a pair of tech falls, outscoring his opponents 37-5 for a title.
• No. 5 Dominic Murphy earned a 14-5 major decision over Kalen Meyer (SDSU) then beat No. 3 Solomon Nielsen (Augsburg) 8-6 and shared the 174 Gold title with Shaeden Scheidt.
• No. 3 Garrett Vos defeated Justin Stauffacher (Augsburg) 11-4, Derrick Cardinal (SDSU) 5-2 then took care of No. 13 Ty Bisek 11-5 in the Gold 133 Finals for an open title.
• Grant Parrish went 3-0 and earned a share of the HWT Silver Title with Kaleb Haase, pinning two opponents and adding a major decision for a trio of bonus point wins.
• Tyson Meyer took first in the Silver 184 division, going 3-0 with a tech fall in the Finals.
• Nic Cantu went 2-1 in Silver 133 with a pair of tech falls, taking second.
