No. 4 St. Cloud State Men’s Hockey Falls in Tight Contest to No. 2 Denver

Huskies yield two goals in first three minutes, couldn’t find equalizer in 3-2 result
DENVER, Colo. – No. 4 St. Cloud State Men's Hockey (8-2-0, 1-1-0 NCHC) couldn't overcome a two-goal deficit, falling 3-2 to No. 2 Denver (7-3-0, 3-1-0 NCHC) on Saturday night at Magness Arena. After yielding two goals in the first three minute, the Huskies were chasing all game and couldn't quite find the equalizer to tie the game.
TURNING POINT
Denver grabbed momentum from the very beginning of the game, scoring at the 1:13 and 2:37 marks of the first period to grab a 2-0 lead early. Denver's Casey Dornbach and Jack Devine found the back of the net to take the lead.
Senior forward Grant Cruikshank (Delafield, Wis.) scored at the 10:50 mark of the third period to make the score 3-2, but St. Cloud State couldn't quite find the tying goal, despite numerous chances in the final 10 minutes of the game.

St. Cloud State will return home for its next series, as the Huskies host No. 18 Western Michigan on Nov. 11-12 at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT on Friday and 6:00 p.m. CT on Saturday, and will be broadcast on Fox 9 + and KNSI.

- Senior forward Jami Krannila (Nokia, Finland) scored a power play goal in the second period, his third consecutive game with a goal.
- Cruikshank continued his remarkable start to the season, scoring his eighth goal of the season in the third period.
- Four Huskies; senior forward Zach Okabe (Okotoks, Alberta), sophomore defenseman Jack Peart (Grand Rapids, Minn.), senior defenseman Dylan Anhorn (Calgary, Alberta) and junior forward Veeti Miettinen (Espoo, Finland) recorded assists in the game.
- Krannila scored for the third consecutive game and for the 31st time in his career. It also marked the ninth time in his career he has scored on the power play.
- Cruikshank his hot start to the season, scoring for the second time in the series and for the eighth time this season. His eight goals rank fourth in the NCHC and fifth in the nation.
- Cruikshank's eight tally's also rank as the third most in a season in his career, only trailing his 11 goals in 2019-18 and 2019-20.
- Peart recorded an assist for the third time in the last four games, upping his total to six assists on the season.
- Junior goalie Dominic Basse (Alexandria, Va.) recorded 32 saves in the game, the second time this season and the 11th time in his career he has made 30 or more saves in a game.
