ST. CLOUD, MINN. – It's never too early to think about volleyball season. The St. Cloud State University volleyball team announced its summer camp schedule Monday afternoon. The Huskies will once again host the Elite Camp and Skills Camp in late July and will also host a team camp in 2022.
The team will host the Huskies Skills Camp for boys and girls grades 4-9 from July 25 through July 27. The cost for the Huskies Skills Camp will be $200 dollars and will cover the costs for the camp as well as a t-shirt and St. Cloud State branded volleyball for participants. The camp itself will focus on the development of the six basic skills of volleyball (serving, passing, setting, attacking, digging and blocking). Campers will have the opportunity to apply the skills learned through instruction during camp with various games, competitions and 6-on-6 play and will be separated based on skill level.
The Huskies will also host the Elite Positional Camp for high school students grades 9-12 from July 22-23. Cost will be $290 for day campers and $370 for overnight. The camp will focus on the development of individual and position specific skills and trailing along with team drills and training. The elite camp is designed for campers with varsity and/or club volleyball playing experience or are thinking of playing at the collegiate level and will include specific time for positional work (setters, pin hitters, middle blockers, liberos/defensive specialists) while also working in a team setting to work on teamwork and general skills in team competition. Participants will be separated by skill level and grade and will receive a St. Cloud State Volleyball t-shirt.
The 2022 Team Camp returns to the volleyball summer camp slate and will take place on the St. Cloud State campus July 28-29. The team camp is an opportunity for high school teams to improve their skills both as a collective unit and individually, as the Huskies Team Camp provides structured drills both in a team and individual setting. Each team will be assigned a camp coach who will address specific needs of the team while guiding members through game tactics, strategies and techniques. All participating teams will have the opportunity to train together in various skills, competitive drills and scrimmages throughout the two-day camp.Â
Individuals who wish to register for the Skills or Elite camps may do so at volleyball.scsuhuskiessportscamps.com. High school coaches must reach out to Chad Braegelmann or Marci Taumalolo to register for the team camp.
