Huskies shoot just 37.7% from the field in 77-66 loss to Augustana
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Men's Basketball (8-10 overall, 4-8 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) struggled offensively all night en route to a 77-66 loss to Augustana on Saturday at Halenbeck Hall.
Augustana (12-7, 7-6 NSIC) lead the game for 38:30 and only conceded the lead to the Huskies one time early in the first half. The Vikings built their biggest lead – 15 points – toward the end of the first half before SCSU closed in using a 14-8 run to finish the half. Augie turned SCSU's six first half turnovers into 10 points and only turned the ball over twice itself.
The Huskies only got to within six points of Augustana in the second half. Missed shots – and free throws – coupled with a few untimely turnovers lead to SCSU's demise down the stretch. SCSU was forced to become aggressive on defense, going for steals and inevitably fouling. Augie made 80% (20-of-25) of its free throws down the stretch to fend off the Huskies.
