Huskies face Warriors on Friday at Husky Stadium
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Women's Soccer (10-2-4, 7-1-4 NSIC) will host its penultimate game of the regular season on Friday, Nov. 1 when the Huskies welcome Winona State (5-7-1, 4-7-0 NSIC) for a 6:00 p.m. CT start at Husky Stadium.
With only two games left in the regular season, the Huskies are currently in second place in the NSIC standings with 25 points, only trailing Minnesota State (10-1-5, 9-0-3 NSIC). The Huskies are just ahead of a log jam behind them, with Augustana (8-4-3, 7-2-2 NSIC) at 23 points and Concordia-St. Paul (9-3-3, 7-3-1 NSIC) at 22 points. UMary (8-3-3, 6-2-3 NSIC) and Bemidji State (8-4-3, 6-2-3 NSIC) are also close behind with 21 points.

SERIES HISTORY
SCSU will look to narrow Winona State's lead in the all-time series, as they currently lead 20-7-3. Last season, the Huskies and Warriors played to a 1-1 tie on Oct. 29 with Ariel Hawkey netting the lone goal for the Huskies.
REGIONAL RANKINGS
St. Cloud State moved up another spot to No. 5 in this week's United Soccer Coaches (USC) Central Regional rankings, as another NCAA Tournament berth nears for the Huskies. Among NSIC teams, Minnesota State is ranked first and Concordia-St. Paul is ranked sixth. Last season, the Huskies earned the No. 3 spot in the NCAA Central Regional Tournament, its first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance.
PROGRAM MILESTONES
The Huskies current unbeaten streak sits at nine consecutive games, matching a program record that it has set for the fourth time. The previous streaks occurred during the 1995, 2011 and 2023 seasons. The Huskies are now 5-0-4 in their last nine games and 10-1-4 in their last 12. SCSU reached 10 wins for the second consecutive season and seventh season overall. It marks the first time since 2010-11 that they have recorded back-to-back season with 10+ wins.
HALUNEN'S BIG WEEKEND
Freshman defender Izzy Halunen (Woodbury, Minn.) played a big role in the Huskies sweep over MSU Moorhead (4-0, Oct. 18) and Northern State (2-1, Oct. 20), scoring a goal and assist for three points while playing a hand in both game-winning scores. She played 172 minutes on the Huskies backline while only allowing one goal and helping SCSU record its fifth shutout of the season, holding the Dragons to zero shots on goal on Friday. She had an assist on the game-winning goal against MSUM on Friday, recording her first career point. Then, Halunen scored the game-winning goal on Saturday against Northern State, creating a turnover at midfield and then getting the ball back and scoring in the 68th minute, registering her first career goal.
CASE FOR ALL-NSIC
Among many Huskies, junior forward Ellie Primerano (St. Joseph, Mich.) and sophomore forward Linsey Trapino (Verona, Wis.) have led the way offensively all season for the Huskies, making their bid for All-NSIC selections. Each of them rank in the NSIC's top-10 in goals, game-winning goals and points this season. Primerano leads the conference in game-winning goals (three) while ranking third in goals (six) and third in points (15). Trapino also leads the NSIC in game-winning goals (three), while ranking fifth in goals (five) and sixth in points (12).
Primerano was named the NSIC Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 23 after scoring in both games of SCSU's weekend sweep over Minnesota Duluth (2-1, Sept. 20) and Bemidji State (2-1, Sept. 22). It marked the third time in her career she has earned the conference weekly honor after winning it twice as a sophomore in 2023. Primerano scored two goals and added an assist for a five-point weekend, as she also extended her goal streak to three consecutive games and had the game-winning goal in Sunday's win over the Beavers. She helped extend SCSU's win streak to nine over UMD, while helping the Huskies beat the Beavers for the first time since Nov. 13, 2019. Her five-point weekend helped her become the 22nd player in program history to reach 25 career points, as she now ranks 12th all-time with 34 career points (10g/14a).
Trapino netted her fourth goal of the season in a 4-0 win over MSU Moorhead on Oct. 18, as she became the 23rd Husky to reach 25 career points, now ranking 18th with 29 points (12g/5a). In just 35 games, Trapino has already registered seven game-winning goals, a mark which ranks fourth on the all-time SCSU list.
ORHAM EXCELLING IN NET
Redshirt junior goalkeeper Meriel Orham (St. Michael, Minn.) has made the most of her opportunity in the net for the Huskies this season, playing every game this season and recording an 10-2-4 mark on the season. She has recorded six shutouts this season against Roosevelt (Sept. 13), Parkside (three saves, Sept. 15), Wayne State (four saves, Sept. 29), Concordia-St. Paul (three saves, Oct. 4), MSU Moorhead (Oct. 18) and SMSU (four saves, Oct. 25).
On the season, Orham is 10-2-4 with a 0.63 goals-against-average, .828 save percentage and five shutouts. Her GAA would set a new program season record, while her six shutouts and 10 wins currently rank fifth and seventh, respectively, among all Huskies.
