ST. CLOUD, Minn. – No. 5 St. Cloud State Wrestling (14-1, 9-0 NSIC) erased a 10-0 deficit after three matches to comeback and defeat No. 13 UMary (11-5, 6-3 NSIC), 23-13, on Sunday afternoon at Halenbeck Hall in St. Cloud. With the win, SCSU closed out its conference dual schedule with a perfect 9-0 mark to clinch a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Regular Season Championship, its 12th NSIC title in the last 13 seasons.
In addition to its 12th conference title in the last 13 season, the Huskies won their 17th overall conference championship in program history and recorded its 12th undefeated conference record in dual competition under head coach Steve Costanzo. SCSU is now 19-0 all-time against UMary, winning every dual since its first match on Feb. 16, 2007.
After dropping the first three matches of the dual, redshirt sophomore 141-pounder Alyeus Craig (Wichita, Kan.) swung the momentum back into SCSU's favor by defeating Kaden DeCoteau, 12-0. The win began a five-match win streak for the Huskies with redshirt junior 149-pounder Colby Njos (Anoka, Minn.), junior 157-pounder Nick Novak (New Prague, Minn.), graduate 165-pounder Anthony Herrera (Stansbury Park, Utah) and freshman 174-pounder Cole Glazier (Kasson, Minn.) to follow. Njos, Herrera and Glazier won by major decision, while Novak and Glaizer both recorded wins over ranked opponents. Novak defeated No. 11-ranked Braydon Huber, 7-0, while Glazier earned arguably the most impressive win of the dual, beating No. 8-ranked Max Bruss, 13-4.
