Huskies set two personal records, two season bests in Wisconsin

COLFAX, Wis – St. Cloud State Cross Country recorded two new 6k cross country personal bests and two season bests on Friday morning at the Blugold Invitational, hosted by Wis.-Eau Claire, at the Whitetail Golf Course in Colfax, Wisconsin. For the first time this season, the Huskies fielded five or more runners to be eligible for team scoring, placing 29^th of 36 teams in a field of nearly 350 runners from NCAA DI, DII, DIII and NAIA programs.

Sophomore Abbygail Nunez (South St. Paul, Minn.) was the top runner for SCSU, running a new season's best time of 25:25.3, which was 2:26 faster than she ran two weeks ago at the Roy Griak Invitational. Senior Hannah Little (Grimes, Iowa) also ran a new season best, completing the 6k in 25:44.1, taking 1:34 off her time from Griak. Racing in her home state, sophomore MerriAnna Johnson (Osceola, Wis.) made her 6k season debut, running 26:29.7.

Freshmen Jocie Wheeler (Annandale, Minn.) and Campbell Slattery (Big Lake, Minn) rounded out the Huskies top five with personal record performances. Wheeler ran 26:38.9, cutting 57 seconds off her first ever 6k and Slattery finished in 26:50.8, taking 37 seconds off her debut time.

The Huskies do not compete again until Saturday, October 18 when they travel to Northfield for the Haunted Hustle on the Hill, hosted by St. Olaf.
