Huskies drop series opener to UW 5-1
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – No. 10/12 St. Cloud State Women's Hockey (4-9-0, 1-8-0 Western Collegiate Hockey Association) dropped its series opener against No. 1 Wisconsin 5-1 on Saturday evening at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud.
Wisconsin didn't waste any time getting in the scoresheet, netting the game's first goal just 1:57 into the contest. The Badgers extended their lead to three with five minutes remaining in the second period after a pair of goals by Caroline Harvey.
The Huskies scored their first goal of the game with 70 seconds remaining in the middle period, cutting its deficit to two. Freshman forward Raili Mustonen (Kalajoki, Finland) kept the puck in the SCSU offensive zone and found junior forward Sofianna Sundelin (Ulvila, Finland) who skated through the right circle and found senior forward Avery Farrell (Rogers, Minn.) all alone on the back side of the net. Farrell buried the puck into the back of the net for her second goal of the season.
The Badgers (12-1-0, 8-1-0 WCHA) responded to the SCSU goal with a pair of third period goals to bring the final score to 5-1.

The Huskies close out their series against Wisconsin on Saturday. Puck drop is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center. It is the team's annual "Fill the Herb" game and will feature former Husky and PWHL champion Klára Hymlárová '24, who will be at the game with the Walter Cup for autographs and pictures during the first intermission. The game will also be a Hockey Hits Back game in partnership with Sophie's Squad. There will be autographs with select players from the men's team during the second intermission and there will also be post-game autographs with select women's players. - Sundelin tallied the primary assist on the goal and was the other Husky to skate to a +1 mark.

- Graduate defender Grace Wolfe (Owatonna, Minn.) skated in her 130th career game.
- Junior forward Alice Sauriol (Sherbrooke, Quebec) skated in her 85th career game.
