Second Half Three-Point Barrage Powers Huskies Past Marauders 84-54

St. Cloud State makes nine second-half threes
Bismarck, N.D.- St. Cloud State Men's Basketball (15-10, 11-6 NSIC) used a big second half to beat UMary 84-54 Wednesday evening. Through the first 10 minutes of play, the teams would be tied at 16 points apiece with neither team able to grow a lead. A 5-1 run by the Marauders gave them a 21-17 lead with 8:29 left in the first half. From that point, the Huskies ramped up their intensity on both sides of the ball as an and-one by Lee Marks III capped off an 11-0 run for SCSU over the next three minutes. Now holding a seven-point lead, the Huskies remained in control as their defense allowed only one made field goal by the Marauders over the final 8:29 of the half as it came with 21 seconds left in the half. St. Cloud State would ultimately go into halftime leading 36-31. The start of the second half saw the SCSU maintain their first half lead but were unable to shake the Marauders. A three-pointer by Marks III extended the lead to 10 points. Back-to-back threes by Kynan Philippe would give St. Cloud State a 55-41 lead at the 12:28 mark of the second half. SCSU kept pouring it on UMary as Lucas Morgan capped off a personal 6-0 run with a three-pointer which put the Huskies up 68-44. St. Cloud State ultimately led by 24+ points the remainder of the game as they went on to comfortably win 84-54. It was a three-point barrage in the second half for the Huskies as they made nine of their 15 attempts from beyond the arc.
