Lockdown Defense Props Huskies to 70-39 win over Northern State

SCSU holds Wolves to 27.6% shooting
St. Cloud, MN. – St. Cloud State Women's Basketball (8-11, 5-9 NSIC) cruised to a 70-39 win against Northern State Saturday afternoon. The Huskies produced an incredible defensive performance as they limited the Wolves to 27.6% shooting and forced 17 turnovers.
St. Cloud State came out on fire as a three by Reagan Briggs gave SCSU a 10-0 lead two and a half minutes into the game. Northern State would get on the board with a three at the 6:23 mark of the first quarter, but the Huskies kept rolling with a 10-2 run which forced an NSU timeout. SCSU ultimately led 29-7 at the end of the first quarter after pristine play on both sides. The Huskies held the Wolves to 3/12 shooting while they shot 64% from the field. While the offense slowed in the second quarter, the defense did not as they held NSU to 10 points on 25% shooting. SCSU comfortably led 41-17 at halftime.
The second half saw similar results as the Huskies led by 24+ points the remainder of the game with a lead as big as 33 points. St. Cloud State would complete the weekend sweep with a 70-39 win over Northern State. The last time SCSU allowed less than 40 points in a conference win was December 4, 2015, where they beat Bemidji State 64-38.

- Rachel Kottke tallied a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Kottke shot an efficient 7/9 from the field and 3/4 from three. She also tallied two steals. This was Kottke's first career double-double and third game with 17+ points this season.
- Reagan Briggs poured in 12 points on 3/4 shooting while going 5/5 at the free throw line. This was her third game scoring in double-figures this season.
- Kristi Kottke tallied seven points and five rebounds. She also shot an efficient 3/6 from the field.
- St. Cloud State is now 18-17 all-time against Northern State.
- The Huskies led the game in field goal percentage (47.2-27.6), three-pointers made (5-3), free throws made (15-4), rebounds (41-31), assists (18-8), blocks (4-1), points off turnovers (21-6), points in the paint (28-22), fast break points (5-0), and bench points (24-19).
- Jada Eggebrecht totaled eight points, a season-high six assists, and five stocks (career-high three blocks and two steals). She also grabbed two rebounds.
- Abigail O'Reilly grabbed six rebounds to go with five points.
- Alana Zarneke registered four points, four rebounds, and three assists.
- Ashley Sawicki compiled three points, four rebounds, three assists, and a block.
- Paige Lambe tallied five points and two rebounds.
- Brynn Olson scored four points and grabbed two rebounds.
