The Huskies were unable to get going in the second quarter as they shot 4/14 from the field for 11 points. St. Cloud State stayed solid defensively as they kept within striking distance as they held the Dragons to 15 points and went into halftime trailing 32-24.

The tandem of Kylan Gerads and Abigail O'Reilly scored the next eight points for the Huskies as a layup by Gerads, assisted by O'Reilly, cut the Dragon lead down to four with 4:33 left in the third quarter. Moorhead held a comfortable lead the remainder of the second quarter, but the SCSU started to gain steam late as a 5-0 to end the half set the score at 31-28.
The entirety of the third quarter and most of the fourth quarter saw the Dragons keep the Huskies at bay by making big shots to halt any momentum that they had. With 4:29 left in the game and the Dragons leading 60-52, St. Cloud State ramped up their defense to make on final push. A 5-0 run and over a four-minute scoring drought for the Dragons saw their lead dwindle to a single point after Gerads knocked down big free throws. The Huskies would be forced to foul with 12 seconds left. MSUM made both attempts as they held a 62-59 lead as SCSU now had a chance to tie the game with a three. On their final possession of regulation, Rachel Kottke collapsed the defense with a drive and found Paige Lambe in the paint to create a scramble situation. Eggebrecht Comes Up Clutch as Huskies Survive Crookston Comeback- December 7, 2024
The first quarter was tightly contested as neither team were able to build much of a lead. A layup by Reagan Briggs with four seconds left would give St. Cloud State a 20-19 advantage at the end of the quarter. The second quarter saw the Golden Eagles start to take control as they took a 33-25 lead after going on a 12-2 run. The Huskies didn't allow Crookston to take full control as they countered with a 12-2 run of their own to close out the second quarter as Paige Lambe accounted for eight of those points. After a strong finish to the half, St. Cloud State would narrowly trail 36-38 at the break.
The Huskies carried over their momentum from the end of the second quarter into the third quarter as they took a 46-38 lead after Jada Eggebrecht capped off a 10-0 with a pull-up three. SCSU kept it rolling in the third as they outscored the Golden Eagles 27-12 in the frame as they would lead 63-50 going into the fourth quarter. The Huskies pushed their lead up to 17 points early in the fourth, but Crookston battled all the way back as a jumper by Emma Miller cut the St. Cloud State lead down to two points with 1:06 left in the game. The Golden Eagles turned up their pressure and defensive intensity in the fourth to comeback and relied on a zone defense. On the ensuing Huskies possession and the pressure turned up, the Huskies moved the ball well against zone and ultimately found an open Eggebrecht in the slot as she drilled a clutch three-pointer with 38 seconds remaining to put SCSU up five points. Crookston would not slump their heads as Emma Miller returned the favor with a three-pointer of her own with 25 seconds remaining. Crookston would be forced to foul and wrongly chose Eggebrecht who is a 92.9% foul shooter. Jada calmy knocked down both free throws to put the Huskies up by four points with 19 seconds remaining.
