Ahcan signs ECHL deal after four seasons with the Huskies
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Men's Hockey senior forward Grant Ahcan (Savage, Minn.) signed a professional contract with the ECHL's Iowa Heartlanders, as announced by the organization on March 18. Ahcan played four seasons for the Huskies and served as one of three captains for the 2025-26 season.
Ahcan appeared in all 36 games in his senior campaign with the Huskies, scoring four goals and five assists for nine points with one shorthanded goal. He served as captain for this season's Huskies, following his brother Jack Ahcan, who was captain for the 2019-20 season. The Ahcan's are the first set of brothers in the Division-I era to serve as captains for SCSU, and just the second pair overall, following Steve (1985-86) and Mike (1986-87) Brodzinski.
In 114 career games, Ahcan scored 14 goals and 19 assist for 33 points with four shorthanded goals and two power play goals. His four shorthanded goals rank as the 13th-most in program history. Among the 23 skaters to score four or more shorties, Ahcan's 28.6 percent of his total goals (14) is the highest percentage of any Husky. In the classroom, Ahcan earned a pair of NCHC Academic All-Conference honors in 2024-25 and 2025-26.
