6/5/2026 10:14:00 AM | Men's Hockey
Nonconference slate includes Alaska, Bemidji State, Boston College, Michigan Tech, Vermont
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Men's Hockey announced its finalized schedule for the 2026-27 season on Friday, adding five series with nonconference opponents. Among the five teams added to the schedule, two are return opponents from last season in Bemidji State and Vermont, two are teams the Huskies have played in recent seasons in Alaska (2023-24) and Boston College (2024-25) and one is a former WCHA foe in Michigan Tech.
The Huskies will open the season with a road game at Bemidji State on Saturday, Oct. 3 before returning home to welcome Michigan Tech (Oct. 9-10) for its first series in the newly renovated Herb Brooks National Hockey Center. It will be the first meeting between the two former conference opponents since a 3-2 overtime win for SCSU in the 2015 NCAA Regional and just the second and third since the dissolution of the WCHA.
SCSU will make its first of two trips out east when the Huskies head to Boston to face Boston College for a Thursday-Saturday series on Oct. 15 and Oct. 17. The return trip completes a home-and-home series between the two programs after BC traveled to St. Cloud in November 2024. The Huskies will head back out east in November, this time heading to Burlington, Vt., for the first time since 2006 when the two face off on Thanksgiving weekend on Nov. 27-28. SCSU will then finish its nonconference slate by bookending the holiday break, hosting Bemidji State on Wednesday, Dec. 16 before opening the 2027 calendar year by hosting Alaska on Jan. 1-2.
Additionally, SCSU's conference series with St. Thomas has shifted to Jan. 8-9 in St. Paul and Feb. 26-27 in St. Cloud due to a scheduling conflict.
In all, the Huskies will play 17 regular season games inside the Brooks Center in 2026-27 with NCHC series against Arizona State (Oct. 30-31), Minnesota Duluth (Nov. 13-14), Denver (Dec. 11-12), Miami (Jan. 15-16), Omaha (Feb. 12-13) and St. Thomas (Feb. 26-27).
All dates listed for the 2026-27 schedule are subject to change and times are still to be announced.
