St. Cloud State Men’s Golf Sits in 5th after First Day of the United Printing Marauders Invitational

BISMARCK, ND – St. Cloud State Golf completed round one of the United Printing Marauders Invitational hosted by UMary. The Men's team shot +18 (306) while the Women's team competed with three individuals.

Today was the first round of a 36-hole two-day event at Hawktree Golf Club in Bismarck, ND.

The Husky men's golf team was led by Freshman, Owen Hoehn and Tate Hellend, after the pair fired first round 75's (+3) to sit tied for 17th. William Spence played his last eight holes at -1 to finish at +5 (77). Cameron Kaye battled hard to round out the counting scores shooting +6 (78) making five birdies in the round. Noah Klapmeier also made his season debut, shooting +11 (83). The Men made a combined 16 birdies in round one.

The Husky women's team was led by Emma Forsberg, who shot a season best +23 (95). Alyssa Scherping (+42) and Emma Ryan (+58) also competed in today's tournament for the Huskies Women's golf team.

Scouting the Golf Course

Designed by renowned architect Jim Engh and opened in 2000, Hawktree is an 18-hole, par-72, 6,847-yard, public golf course featuring dramatic elevation changes, native prairie grasses, natural contours, three lakes, and Burnt Creek, which comes into play on several holes. One of the course's most distinctive features is its black coal-slag bunkers, which create a striking contrast against the surrounding landscape.
