At Stevens Point Area High School, Johnson was a 3x varsity letter winner in volleyball and earned All-Conference and All-Conference Honorable Mention accolades. As a senior, Johnson led the conference in hitting percentage and ranked fourth in blocks, allowing her to earned First Team All-Conference and All-State Honorable Mention honors.
