2020-21 (FRESHMAN):Â Miettinen made plenty of headlines in 2020-21, as he was named the NCHC Rookie of the Year, becoming the first player in program history to earn the prestigious honor, and additionally earned First Team All-Rookie and Second Team All-Conference honors from the NCHC. A four-time weekly award winner and January Player of the Month, the Toronto Maple Leafs draft pick tallied 23 points during the regular season with 10 goals and 13 assists in 24 games, a number that ranked fifth amongst all skaters in the NCHC, and his five power play goals ranked third. Additionally, Miettinen led all rookies in the NCHC in both points (23) and assists (13) and ranked second in total goals (10) and shots (65) during the regular season. He closed the year with 24 points on 11 goals and 13 assists.Â
Personal: A prolific offensive force for the Kiekko-Espoo U20 squad in 2019-20, Miettinen charted 42 goals and 31 assists during the recent winter season. He played for the Espoo Blues U20 squad from 2017 to 2019, and scored 38 goals and 47 assists during those two campaigns. He led the SM-liiga in scoring during the recent 2019-20 season with 73 points. Miettinen set a new SM-Liiga record for most career goals at 80 and most goals in a season with 42 in 2019-20. In the final 2019-20 NHL Central Scouting rankings, Miettinen received a #72 ranking among European skaters...drafted by Toronto (6th round/168th pick) in the 2020 NHL draft.
