The #19 St. Cloud State University men's hockey team (12-10-0, 9-5-0 WCHA) will get back to play in the WCHA this weekend with a pair of dates against #7 University of Denver (13-6-4, 8-4-4 WCHA) at the National Hockey and Event Center in St. Cloud on Jan. 18-19. The game on Jan. 18 will start at 7:37 p.m. and the game on Jan. 19 begins at 7:07 p.m. Tickets are available for these important WCHA games and you can purchase them by visiting the SCSU ticket website at www.scsutickets.com or call 1-877-SCSUTIX.

LAST TIME ON ICE: The Huskies enjoyed a bye week on Jan. 11-12. The last time out, SCSU lost a 6-2 and 2-1 series against Northern Michigan on Jan. 4-5 at the NHEC. This series marked the final regular season non-conference games for the Huskies. On Jan. 4, SCSU goals were posted by Ben Hanowski and Cory Thorson and on Jan. 5, the Huskies' lone goal was posted by Jonny Brodzinski.
AMONG THE BEST: Post-season honors candidate Drew LeBlanc currently leads all NCAA Division I men's hockey players this season with 24 assists. He also ranks third in the nation with 30 points in 22 games played this winter. In his sterling career, LeBlanc ranks fifth in the SCSU team records with 92 career assists and 11th with 127 career points. He needs just two more points to move into a tie for 10th place on the career scoring charts along with Brandon Sampair, who had 129 points from 1998-01. LeBlanc brings an 11-game point streak into the games vs. Denver this weekend.
THE COUNTDOWN CONTINUES: Senior Ben Hanowski is closing in on the 100-point mark in his career. He currently has 97 career points and he would become the 24th player in team history (all games played at the DI level) to join the Huskies' 100-point club. Hanowski is a resident of nearby Little Falls and he shares captain duties on the team this season along with LeBlanc and Nick Jensen.
THE FUTURE IS HERE: Rookie sensation Kalle Kossila added another goal to his totals on Dec. 27. A resident of Finland, Kossila leads all DI rookies this season with 11 goals. Kossila has five goals in his last six outings for the Huskies and he brings a four-game point streak into the NMU series. Another of SCSU's freshmen standout is forward Jonny Brodzinski, who added a goal and an assist in the series against RPI. Brodzinski has a five-game point streak going into the NMU games and he currently ranks third on the team with eight goals. Brodzinski leads the Huskies this year with a +14 on the plus/minus, while Kossila ranks second at +13.
TAKE THE TOUR: SCSU is offering free public tours of the NHEC renovation on Wednesday, Jan. 23 and on Wednesday, Jan. 30 from 5-7 p.m. The tours will last about 20 minutes and will require walking up three flights of stairs. APPROACHING MILESTONE: The next victory for SCSU head coach Bob Motzko will be his 150th career win. In eight seasons at SCSU, Motzko owns a 149-119-34 career record. His next win in league play will also mark Motzko's 100th career WCHA victory. His record vs. conference teams is 99-84-27 since 2005-06. Motzko served as an associate head coach at the University of Denver from 1993 to 1994. On the topic of Denver connections, SCSU assistant coach Mike Gibbons served as an assistant coach for the Pioneers from 1990-94.
