Volleyball Comes up Short in Five Set Battle vs. USF, 2-3

St. Cloud, Minn. -- The St. Cloud State University volleyball team took on the Cougars of the University of Sioux Falls this afternoon in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) action. The match lasted a little over two hours as the Huskies ultimately fell in a heartbreaking five-set loss to the Cougars with set scores of 22-25, 25-12, 25-23, 20-25, and 15-12.
St. Cloud State drops to 12-12 overall and 6-10 in the NSIC. The University of Sioux Falls improves to 16-10 overall and 7-9 in conference action.
The match-up consisted of 11 total lead changes and 28 tied scores within the five sets. The Huskies hit just an .086 attack percentage compared to USF's .236.
Kellan Flynn (Tomahawk, Wis.) led St. Cloud State with 11 kills and a .217 hitting percentage.
Ellie Dietzen (Black Creek, Wis.) posted nine kills and eight blocks in the match. She was followed by Kaitlin Doughty (Tomahawk, Wis.) and Dani Domeier (Norwood Young America) who each collected seven.
Brianne Stamer (Hutchinson) led all players with 21 digs.
Erin Ohlemann (Golden Valley) had 36 assists.
Emily Johnson led the Cougars with 21 kills.
St. Cloud State will return to action next weekend as they travel to Upper Iowa University and Winona State University. St. Cloud State took on these two schools earlier this season, defeating the Peacocks in straight sets and downing Winona State, 3-1.
