Badgers Upset Huskies 4-1 in WCHA Final Five Semifinal

St. Paul, Minn. – The #14 University of Wisconsin Badgers advanced to the championship game of the 2013 WCHA Final Five with a 4-1 win over #7 St. Cloud State University on Friday, March 22 at the Excel Energy Center in St. Paul.
The Badgers were the first to score as Joseph LaBate struck from inside the blue line at 10:46 of the first period.
St. Cloud State senior Ben Hanowski (Little Falls) tied the game with a power play goal at the 14:29 mark with assists from Nic Dowd and Nick Jensen.
John Ramage scored the game-winning goal at 2:08 of the second period on the power play to put the Badgers ahead for good. Wisconsin finished the game two of five on the power play.
The Huskies outshot the Badgers 31-21 and went one-of-five on the power play.
Wisconsin will play the winner of the University of Minnesota/Colorado College match-up tomorrow night for the Broadmoor Trophy.
The Huskies are 23-15-1 overall. Wisconsin is 21-12-7 following the win.
St. Cloud State now awaits word on a potential bid to the upcoming NCAA tournament. The bracket for the 16-team NCAA tournament will be announced on Sunday, March 24 at 8 p.m. (CT) on ESPNU. Please check your local TV listings for the availability of ESPNU in your area.
