SCSU Cross Country on the Road to St. Olaf

The St. Cloud State men's and women's cross country teams will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 21 with an appearance at the 43rd annual St. Olaf Invitational Cross Country Meet. Â The race will be held on the St. Olaf Championship Course in Northfield, Minn.
The women's race will begin at 10 a.m. and it will be a 6K distance. Â The men's race is scheduled to start at 10:45 a.m. and it will be an 8K distance. Â Both races will feature many of the top NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III programs in the upper midwest.
SCSU opened its season on Sept. 7 with an appearance at the St. John's Invitational. Â Both the SCSU men's and women's teams were idle last weekend in preparation for the meet at St. Olaf.
Save the Date - Oct. 4
The Huskies will host Concordia-St. Paul in a cross country dual meet at the Wapicada Golf Course in Sauk Rapids on Friday, Oct. 4. Â The start time is schedule for 5 p.m. Â Admission for this event is free and open to the public.
The meet will honor 50 years of cross country at St. Cloud State University, which began with the first men's team in 1964. Â The team was led by Coach Bob Tracy and featured athletes Ken Mitchell, Van Nelson and Chuck Spoden.
Special honors will also be given at the meet to the 1967 SCSU men's cross country team, which placed second at the NAIA National meet that season, and the 1983 SCSU men's cross country team that placed second at the NCAA Division II meet that season.
A post-race social will be held at the Wapicada Golf Course clubhouse, which will include food and beverages.  All former SCSU cross country/track alumni, parents and fans are invited to attend this event.  If you plan on attending the post-race social, please contact Coach Eric Hanenberger at elhanenberger@stcloudstate.edu
