#3 St. Cloud State Wrestling to Open NSIC Season

The #3 ranked St. Cloud State University wrestling team will begin its Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference season with a 7 p.m. match on Friday, Jan. 24 at Northern State University (3-5, 0-1 NSIC). The Huskies will complete the weekend with a 2 p.m. match on Saturday, Jan. 25 at Minnesota State University, Moorhead (5-5, 2-1 NSIC).

The Huskies are fresh from a 3-0 finish at the 2014 Wisconsin-Parkside Ranger Duals tournament on Jan. 18 in Kenosha, Wisc. SCSU charted victories over Findlay, UW-Parkside and McKendree at the Ranger Duals.

St. Cloud State is the two-time defending NSIC regular season champions and the Huskies have won three consecutive NCAA Division II Super Region 3 championships. In addition, SCSU has finished as the runner-up for the last three seasons at the NCAA Division II championships.

SCSU has won 20 consecutive NSIC dual matches dating back to the 2010-11 season. SCSU went 7-0 in 2011-12 and also posted an 8-0 record in 2012-13 under the leadership of head coach Steve Costanzo.
