St. Cloud State Soccer drops 2-1 OT decision vs. Minot State

The St. Cloud State University soccer team (4-10-0, 4-8-0 NSIC) lost a 2-1 overtime decision against NSIC rival Minot State University (7-5-2, 6-4-1 NSIC) on Sunday, Oct. 19 at Husky Stadium in St. Cloud, Minn.
The Beavers opened the game's offense with a goal by Gemma Biasetto at 8:35 to gain a 1-0 lead in the first half. The Huskies charged back in the second half with a goal at 58:34 by junior defender Faith Bila. The goal was Bila's first of the season and it came on a foul kick from about 20 yards out, which beat Minot goalie Celene Johnson to the far right corner of the net.
In the overtime session, Minot brought home the win with a goal by Jamie MacFarlene at 99:04 of the game. Chloe Melton and Biasetto had assists on the play.
In the game, Minot outshot the Huskies 16-11 as both squads had two shots in the overtime session. Kenzie Hanzlik was the goalie of record for the Huskies with three saves and Johnson had four saves in the game for Minot. Kara Espinosa and Taige Thoreson led the Huskies with two shots apiece in the game.
The Huskies homestand will continue on Oct. 24 with an NSIC game against Concordia-St. Paul. Game time at Husky Stadium that night is 7 p.m. On Oct. 26, the Huskies will return to Husky Stadium for a 1 p.m. home date against Minnesota State University. Tickets for both matches can be purchased at the gate.
