#6/7 Huskies roll to victory over Trinity Western

St. Cloud, Minn. - The #6/7 St. Cloud State University men's hockey team (0-0-0, 0-0-0-0 NCHC) rolled to an 8-0 exhibition victory over Trinity Western University on Saturday, Oct. 4 at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud.
SCSU dominated from start to finish in the contest as the Huskies outshot the Spartans 62-17 in the game.
The Huskies opened the scoring at 8:30 of the first period with a goal by Joe Rehkamp. Assists on the play were provided by defensive teammates Ethan Prow and Andrew Prochno.
The goal proved to be the game winner for the Huskies as the goalie trio of Charlie Lindgren, Rasmus Reijola and Joe Phillippi combined for the shutout. On the night, the trio combined for 17 saves as Lindgren had seven, Reijola had five and Phillippi had five.
In the second period, rookie forward Patrick Russell made it 2-0 with his marker at 6:53. Blake Winiecki and David Morley added helpers on the goal by Russell. Rehkamp added his second goal of the evening at 12:37 of the second period to make it 3-0. Mika Ilvonen and Garrett Milan each had assists on the play. To complete the second period scoring, junior Jimmy Murray scored at 13:10 with assists from Kalle Kossila and Niklas Nevalainen.
The Huskies continued to dominate in the third period with an early goal at :21 by senior Brooks Bertsch. Rehkamp and Daly each charted assists on the goal that made the score 5-0. SCSU pushed the score to 6-0 with a goal by Joey Benik at 14:51 of the third with assists from Morley and Russell.
The goals kept rolling in as Daniel Tedesco made it 7-0 with his goal at 17:13 on assists from Judd Peterson and Nevalanien. The scoring was completed at 17:55 of the third with a goal by Garrett Milan, which was assisted by Kalle Kossila and Ben Storm.
SCSU only had one penalty in the contest and TWU had no penalties in the game.
The Huskies will continue their 2014-15 season on Oct. 10-11 with a pair of home dates at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center against non-conference rival Colgate. The game on Oct. 10 will feature a pre-game banner raising ceremony to celebrate SCSU's 2013-14 regular season NCHC championship.
