St. Cloud State falls at NCAA West Regional, 4-1

The #13 St. Cloud State University men's hockey team lost a 4-1 decision against #3 North Dakota in the championship game at the NCAA Division I West Regional tournament on March 28 in Fargo, N.D. Â
The loss ends SCSU's season as UND will now advance to the NCAA Frozen Four in Boston. Â The Huskies finished the year with a 20-19-1 overall record, while UND improves to 29-9-3. Â This marked the third consecutive trip to the regional championship game for the Huskies and the fourth time in the regional finale since 2010.

The Huskies broke open the scoring the first period with an even strength goal by Jimmy Murray at 1:29 of the first period. Â The goal was assisted by Joe Rehkamp and it gave SCSU 1-0. Â This was Murray's fifth goal of the season and Rehkamp's 14th assist of the year and second assist of the NCAA tournament in 2015.
North Dakota evened the score at 8:59 of the first period with a goal by Andrew Panzarell, which made it 1-1. Â Assists on the play were credited to Tucker Poolman and Colten St. Clair.
North Dakota broke the tie in the second period with an unassisted marker by Drake Caggiula at 6:49. Â North Dakota stretch its lead to 3-1 in the third period with an unassisted goal by Luke Johnson at 2:53. Â To cap the game, Colten St. Clair ended the scoring with an empty net goal at 19:19 of the third.
On the night, UND outshot SCSU 26-20 as Charlie Lindgren made 22 saves for the Huskies. Â Zane McIntyre was the goalie of record for UND with 19 saves. Â On the power play, SCSU was 0-2 and UND was 0-1.
SCSU's Ethan Prow and Jonny Brodzinski were both named to the 2015 NCAA West Region All-Tournament team for their efforts in the two games in Fargo, N.D.
