St. Cloud State wrestling to defend NCAA title on March 11-12

The defending national champion St. Cloud State University wrestling team will open competition at the 2016 NCAA Division II championships in Sioux Falls, S.D. on Friday, March 11.
The action at the Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls will get underway at 11 a.m. Â The Huskies will bring seven wrestlers to the NCAA Division II championships including Brett Velasquez at 125, Matt Nelson at 141, Jay Hildreth at 149, Clint Poster at 165, Clayton Jennissen at 174, Uthman Rabiu at 184 and Austin Goergen at 285.
The Huskies most recently claimed a second place finish at the 2016 NCAA Division II Super 3 Regional on Feb. 27-28 in Sioux Falls, S.D. Â Velasquez, Hildreth, Poster and Goergen all earned first place finishes in the regional for the Huskies. Â
SCSU is coming off another strong dual meet season in 2015-16 with a 16-1 overall record and an 8-0 record in the always rugged NSIC.  SCSU has won five consecutive NSIC conference titles and the Huskies have now won 44 consecutive NSIC dual matches.
Fans can follow all the action live from the NCAA Division II championships this year on the KVSC Sports Stream. Â John O. Peterson will be down in Sioux Falls to make the call. Â He will call all the matches up to the final round on KVSC. Â Peterson will provided play-by-play coverage of the final 10 bouts on the NCAA live video stream.
