Huskies drop NSIC match up to Northern State 78-58

Aberdeen, S.D.- The St. Cloud State women's basketball team fell Friday night to Northern State 58-78.
The Huskies (8-9, 6-7 NSIC) started off the scoring with a lay up from Betsy MacDonald, but the Wolves (12-5, 8-5 NSIC) tied it up at two a piece early in the first quarter. Amanda Christianson would then sink a three to put the Huskies up by that amount but the Wolves quickly found their groove and took over. The 5-2 lead would be the last one the Huskies enjoyed in the game.
The Huskies offense struggled to factor in scoring, putting up only 12 points in the first quarter. In the first half the Huskies sank only three of their attempted three pointers, and went 10-31 from inside the arch. The Huskies would go on to shoot only 35.6% (21-59) from inside the arch in the game.
St. Cloud State was led by junior Amanda Christianson in the effort. She was the only Husky to break double digits in the game, scoring 16 points for her team. Andrea Thomas picked up seven rebounds to lead her team and Betsy MacDonald would dish out three assists.
The Wolves were led by Miranda Ristau who put up 20 points and nine rebounds.
The Huskies return to action Saturday afternoon when they travel to play Minnesota State, Moorhead at 4:15 p.m. to conclude their road trip.
