Men’s Basketball Earns 88-56 Victory Over Concordia-St. Paul

St. Paul, Minn. – Senior Scottie Stone and redshirt sophomore Gage Davis both scored 19 points to help lead the St. Cloud State men's basketball team (17-9, 13-4 NSIC) to an 88-56 victory over Concordia-St. Paul (4-20, 1-16 NSIC) on Friday evening, Feb. 3, at the Gangelhoff Center. The 33-point margin of victory was the largest of the season.
Davis shot 8-for-14 from the field and also had eight rebounds plus four assists in the victory. Stone hit seven of his 13 shots including five threes plus hauled in six rebounds and three assists. Junior Jon Averkamp and senior Mark Hall both recorded 11 points. Freshman Trevon Marshall came off the bench for eight points. Concordia-St. Paul had a pair of players reach double figures with Diallo Powell picking up 15 and Bryndan Matthews sporting 14 points along with seven rebounds.
The Huskies shot 54 percent from the field in the game (34-for-63) and also knocked down 43.5 percent (1o-for-23) from three-point range plus 83.3 percent of their free throw attempts (10-for-12). CSP was limited to 33.9 percent shooting
SCSU led from start to finish in the game for the fifth time this season. The team's largest lead was 37 points late in the second half on a made three from sophomore Adam Heede-Andersen, 88-55. SCSU led by just three points after the first seven minute of action, but then closed the half on a 30-18 run to take full control of the contest going into the break.
The Huskies keep the road trip going and head to Minnesota State (16-7, 11-6 NSIC) to take on the Mavericks at 6 p.m. on Feb. 4.
