Volleyball Takes Season Opener Over the University of Saint Katherine (CA), 3-0

San Marcos, Calif. – The St. Cloud State volleyball team (1-0) started the 2017 campaign with a 3-0 victory over the University of Saint Katherine (CA) on Thursday, Aug. 31, in San Marcos, Calf. SCSU won in straight sets by scores of 25-15, 27-25 and 25-18.
Senior Nicole Miller led the team with her 13 kills and a hitting percentage of .310. Junior Krista Kuglin totaled eight kills and a hitting percentage of .538. Sophomore Marah Mulso had a .400 hitting percentage on her five kills. Sophomore Clara Krenz led the team with her 11 digs. Redshirt freshman Abby Templin totaled nine digs.
"We were very efficient and limited our errors in set one and at the end of set three," head coach Chad Braegelmann explained. "We struggled in the second set with serving and attacking errors. We did make some plays at the end of the second and third set when we needed to against a very scrappy and energetic team."
The St. Cloud State volleyball team continues play in California and stays in San Marcos to participate in the Cougar Classic from Sept. 1-2. SCSU begins play against Saint Martin's at 2 p.m. The program then takes on the host institution, Cal State San Marcos, at 8 p.m. to finish up the first day of action.
