#1 ranked St. Cloud State on the road to Ranger Duals

The #1 St. Cloud State University wrestling team (10-0, 1-0 NSIC) will be on the road this weekend with a Jan. 13 date at the 2018 Ranger Duals, which is being hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in Kenosha, Wisc.
The Huskies will open the tournament with a 9 a.m. meeting against #5 ranked McKendree (6-2) before battling #16 Findlay at Noon on Jan. 13.

SCSUÂ WRESTILING NOTES AND NEWS:
- SCSU was ranked #1 in the latest NCAA DII national poll. Individually, Larry Bomstad (157) was ranked #1 in the nation, while Brett Velasquez was #2 at 125. James Pleski was ranked fifth at 149 and Jarred Oftedahl was ranked fourth at 141. Travis Holt is now ranked #8 at 165 and Kolton Eischens is ranked 7th at 174. At 197, Vince Dietz earned an 9th place ranking and Lawrence Phillips was ranked #10 at 285.
- SCSU captured its second consecutive NWCA DII National Duals championship on Jan. 4-5 in Fort Wayne, Ind. The Huskies charted a 4-0 record that included a 46-0 win over #15 Lake Erie, a 32-6 win over #9 Indianapolis, a 21-12 win over #12 UN Kearney and a 46-0 win over #25 Seton Hill in the title bout.
- SCSU is the six-time defending NSIC champions and have won league titles in 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013 and 2012.
- At the NWCA Duals, Larry Bomstad (157), Kolton Eischens (174) and Vince Dietz (197) all charted perfect 4-0 records, while Travis Holt (165) and James Pleski (149) were both undefeated with 3-0 records in Fort Wayne.
- SCSU owns a 10-0, 1-0 NSIC record this season. The Huskies have now won 19 consecutive dual matches dating back to 2016-17.
- SCSU will continute its 2017-18 season with a trip to the UW-Parkside Ranger Duals on Jan. 13.
- James Pleski earned NSIC Wrestler of the Week honors on Jan. 8. He gained a 3-1 victory in OT against Keith Surber of Nebraska-Kearney, who is the defending NCAA DII champion at 149-pounds. The win helped SCSU secure a 21-12 win over #12 ranked UNK. Pleski also added a 5-4 victory over Seton Hill's Joey Alessandro in the championship dual match at the NWCA Duals. The Huskies won that match 41-0. Alessandro was the runner-up at the 2016 NCAA championships at 141-pounds and was ranked #11 in the latest DII poll at 141-pounds. Pleski opened the time in Fort Wayne with a 15-6 major decision victory over Elliot Molloy of #9 ranked Indianapolis. SCSU went on to win that dual match 32-6. Pleski was ranked #5 in the latest NCAA polls at 149-pounds and went 3-0 on the week. On the season, Pleski is now 15-1.

- Bomstad owns an 18-0 record during the 2017-18 season. He has 88 career wins with the Huskies. He was named the SCSU Wolters Kluwer Men's Athlete of the Month for December 2017.
- Coach Steve Costanzo owns a 179-28 record during his 12 seasons at SCSU. In his career, Costanzo owns a 240-58-2 record in 19 seasons as a college coach. SCSU has won two NCAA titles and four NWCA DII National Dual titles under the direction of Costanzo. SCSU also has won six consecutive NSIC championships.Â
- SCSU will host the NCAA Division II Super 3 Regional at Halenbeck Hall on Feb. 23-24.
