St. Cloud State men's golf places 10th at NSIC Preview Tourney on March 25

The St. Cloud State men's golf team opened the spring portion of its 2017-18 schedule with a trip to the NSIC Preview tournament at the Paradise Point Golf Course in Smithville, Mo., the site of the upcoming 2018 NSIC Men's Golf Championships, on Sunday, March 25.

The tournament was scheduled for two-days but it was consolidated into two rounds of 18 holes on March 25 due to pending weather conditions in the region.

The Huskies placed 10th in the team standings with a score of 620 (311-309), while Lindenwood won the tournament with a two-round tally of 591 (293-298). Minnesota State Mankato placed second at 599 (299-300) and Winona State was third at 601 (301-300).

Individually, the Huskies were led by Troy Ryynanen with a ninth place score of 148 (74-74). Teammate Riley Duncanson placed 50th in the tournament with a score of 158 (76-82), Daniel Massey was 54th at 159 (82-77), Regan Steen was 58th at 162 (86-76) and David Scharenbroich was 61st in the field at 163 (79-84).

The Huskies will continue their 2018 spring schedule with a trip to the Upper Iowa Invitational on March 29-31 in Waterloo, Iowa.
