The St. Cloud State University men's and women's swimming and diving teams will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 19 with a pair of dual meets in Brookings, S.D. against NCAA Division I rival South Dakota State University. The meets are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. and they will held in the Stanley Marshall Center Pool at SDSU.
SCSU head coach Jeff Hegle is in his 18th season as head coach of the men's and women's swimming and diving teams. He is assisted this year by diving coach Kayla Deters and assistant coaches Alec Mundt, Abby Rasmussen and Nora Stauber.
Earlier this season, the SCSU women's team posted a 146-95 dual meet victory over the Jackrabbits on Nov. 2, 2018 in Sioux Falls, S.D. On Nov. 3, the Huskies completed the weekend in Sioux Falls with a 158-83 win over SDSU. On the same weekend in Sioux Falls, the SCSU men's team lost a pair of duals to the Jacks by scores of 137-106 and 139-104.

SCSU will be back in the pool for the first time competing since the Rochester Invite on Nov. 30-Dec. 2. The SCSU men's team placed first in that meet with 2097.5 points, while the SCSU women's team placed second with 1799 points behind Minnesota State. Of note, SCSU's dual meet that was scheduled on Jan. 11 at home against UW-LaCrosse was cancelled.
Next up on the schedule for the Huskies will be a trip for the women's team to the NSIC Championships in Sioux Falls on Feb. 13-16. The men's team will be participating in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships in Cleveland, Ohio o Feb. 20-23. Both teams will be aiming to hit qualifying marks for the upcoming NCAA DII championships that will be held in Indianapolis on March 13-17.

In the latest CollegeSwimming.com DII polls, the SCSU men's team ranked 26th and the women's team ranked 19th
In the CollegeSwimming.com individual rankings for women, SCSU's Britin Thomsen ranks fourth in the nation in 3M diving with a score of 461.25, while teammate Alyssa Doherty ranks 13th at 431.15. In the 1M diving, Thomsen ranks ninth at 427.95 and Doherty ranks 12th at 412.85. In the 50 free, Jennifer Thompson ranks 22nd among DII swimmer at 23.49, and Alexis Burroughs ranks 18th in the 100 IM at 1:00.73. The SCSU women's 200 free relay ranks 16th in the nation at 1:35.02 and 400 free relay ranks 16th at 3:28.45.
On the men's team, SCSU's Scott Stellick ranks sixth among DII divers in the 1M at 454.40, Hanos Mahari ranks 8th at 416.15 and Evan Infante is 17th at 341.20. In the 3M diving, Stellick ranks fifth at 476.05, Mahari is 7th at 452.40 and Infante is 21st at 320.20. In the 50 backstroke, Anthony Schwartz is ranked 21st with a best time of 23.12.
