St. Cloud State soccer continues winning ways with 2-1 victory at Sioux Falls

The St. Cloud State University soccer team continued its move up the NSIC standings with a 2-1 victory at Sioux Falls on Friday, Oct. 25. The victory moves SCSU 2019 record to 7-3-3, 6-2-2 NSIC and it marks the team's fourth consecutive victory.
In the contest, Monica Majeski gave the Huskies a 1-0 lead in the first half with her goal at 10:44 with an assist from Claire Shea. This was Majeski's second goal of the season and it was Shea's third assist of the year. Of note, Shea currently leads the club in scoring this fall with 11 points (4g/3a).
At 70:09 of the game, SCSU's Brooke Bares gained the game winner with her unassisted tally that made it 2-0. The goal was Bares' third of the season and it is her sixth point of the year.
USF narrowed the gap to 2-1 at 80:16 with a goal by Kassidy Graber but SCSU's defense was able to hold on for the win.
The Huskies outshot the Cougars 14-5 in the game as Zoe Welsh was the goalkeeper of record for SCSU with two saves in the game. Welsh is now 7-3-3 on the season.
SCSU will finish its NSIC road trip on Sunday, Oct. 27 with a 1 p.m. match at Southwest Minnesota State in Marshall, Minn.
