St. Cloud State soccer falls in close battle at SMSU

The St. Cloud State University soccer team (7-4-3, 6-3-2 NSIC) lost a close 2-1 decision at NSIC rival Southwest Minnesota State on Sunday, Oct. 27 in Marshall, Minn.
The loss snapped a four game winning streak for the Huskies, which will next play at Minot State on Friday, Nov. 1 at 3 p.m.
In the match at SMSU, the Huskies outshot the Mustangs 22-12 in the match but two first half goals by SMSU provide the Mustangs' winning margin.
At 14:52, SMSU's Kate Oatman scored the first goal of the game and then her teammate Oliva Harriger scored the eventual game winner at 33:11 to make it 2-0.
In the second half, SCSU broke the shutout with a marker by Kaitlyn Dziubinski at 67:03. This was her third goal and 10th point of the 2019 season.
Zoe Welsh was the goalie of record for SCSU with two saves and Amanda Haimes had 11 saves in the game for SMSU.
