St. Cloud State soccer to face NSIC rivals Minot State and UMary

The St. Cloud State University soccer team (7-4-3, 6-3-3 NSIC) will face two key NSIC opponents this week with a road trip to Minot State University (3-11-0, 3-8-0 NSIC) on Friday, Nov. 1 at 3:00 p.m., and a 1:00 p.m. home match against the University of Mary (8-3-2, 6-3-2 NSIC) on Sunday, Nov. 3 in St. Cloud, Minn.
As the NSIC season moves into its final two weekends of regular season play, these game could provide key points in the league standings for the Huskies. As of Oct. 31, SCSU has a total of 20 NSIC points and the Huskies are currently tied for fifth place in the league standings along with U-Mary and Wayne State (6-5-4, 6-4-2 NSIC). Bemidji State currently sits in fourth place in the NSIC race with 28 points at 10-4-1, 9-2-1 NSIC.
Of note, the top four teams in final regular season standings will receive home field advantage in the first round of the NSIC postseason tournament. The tourney will include the league's top eight teams with the winners of first round play (Nov. 13) advancing to the NSIC final four on Nov. 15-17. The tournament is single elimination and the winner of the tournament will receive the NSIC's automatic bid to the upcoming NCAA DII tournament.

- Just a reminder, the SCSU-MSU Moorhead game will be played on Nov. 6 at 2:00 p.m. in Moorhead, Minn. The game was originally slated to be played on Oct. 11 but snows in the Moorhead area that day forced the game's new date.
- The Huskies split over the past weekend with a 2-1 victory at Sioux Falls on Oct. 25 and a 2-1 loss at Southwest Minnesota State on Oct. 27.
- In the win at USF, Monice Majeski opened the game's scoring at 10:44 with an assist from Jenna Dominguez. Brooke Bares then charted the game winner at 70:09 with an assist from Kaitlyn Dziubinski. Zoe Welsh had two saves in the win for SCSU. The Huskies outshot USF 14-5 in the game.
- At SMSU, Dziubinski scored SCSU's lone goal on a penalty kick at 67:03 of the contest. SCSU outshot the Mustangs by an impressive 22-6 margin in the game.
- Freshman Jenna Dominguez continues to move up the scoring charts for SCSU and now has three goals and three assists for nine points this season. She ranks second on the team behind Claire Shea, who has four goals and two assists to her credit this year.
- Dziubinski now has three goals this season along with two assists for a total of eight points, and Bares also has three goals for the Huskies in 2019. Bares and Shea both have six career goals at SCSU, while Dziubinski has four with the Huskies.
- Welsh owns a 7-4-3 record this season and has allowed only 14 goals in 14 games played. Her 2019 GAA stands at 0.93 in 1347:59 minutes played. She has four shutouts to her credit in 2019, and 10 during her two seasons with the Huskies.
- SCSU has outscored its opponents 20-14 this season and has outshot its opponents 222-121. Of note, SCSU set a team record for fewest goals allowed with 17 in 2009.
- SCSU is 2-7-0 in action against Minot State in the all-time series that started in 2010. In play against U-Mary, the Huskies are 9-6-0 since 1995.
- Last year, SCSU posted a 2-0 win at U-Mary and a 2-0 loss at home against Minot State. In NSIC tournament play last year, SCSU lost to Minot State by a 3-2 margin in Minot. The last time SCSU hosted U-Mary, the Huskies posted a 3-1 win on Oct. 7, 2016.
